America the Beautiful Update

I’ve knit the heel flap, turned the heel and I’m working my way up the gusset (remember these are toe up).  I’m almost finished the first Amber Waves of Grain before starting the Spacious Skies.  I think I have about 6 or so more rows before I’m finished the gusset and can start a full 360 of Magic Mirror.

The picture below shows how much stretch is in this pattern.  When I was showing Scott last night how stretchy they were, he said that you can tell because it was creating gaps.  I had to tell him that they were yarn overs and are suppose to be there.  Silly boy.

I’m really liking how these are coming out.  I’ve been toying with knitting until I run out of yarn to use it all up.  But I think I’ll do my standard length and then use the leftovers for some Henry socks for next winter.

This week is spring break and daycare is closed.  Scott is working 6am to noon and I’m working 1 to 7 pm.  This is the schedule we do when H gets sick and I think it works really well.  It means only 6 hours a day for each of us, but he worked a long Saturday (after playing at the park) to make those missing 10 hours.  I’m just going to use vacation time.  I figure using only 10 hours is better than 40.  Plus school is still closed on Monday so I’m taking the entire day off.

Yesterday when we were playing outside, I got some really cute pictures of H.  I’ll be posting them through out the week.  I want to get back into taking pictures of him over the weekend for blog fodder during the week (plus just having lots of photos of my cutie).

Oh!  And I forgot to add, “Happy Anniversary” to me!  Yesterday was my 10 year anniversary at my place of employment.  I went to lunch with my functional group (about 10 other thermal engineers and our manager) on Friday and it was quite yummy.  For my achievement award I picked a Blue Topaz and Sapphire ring.  According to UPS, it should be arriving tomorrow!
