Waterford Fair time!

The Wateford Fair is this weekend and this year DH is involved. He took a class from Aurora Studio Theater this summer and is now part of Aurora’s Traveling Players. He was even quoted in an article that the Loudoun Times ran in August.

The only bad thing about the fair… it messes up my commute to work (and shopping on the weekend)! Waterford is a quaint little town out in the country off some back roads. So, usually not a lot of traffic (but it is tricky to drive thru because of the narrow streets with cars parted on the sides). Because they aren’t on any main roads, they close the roads during the fair. Which can make it tricky for me to get home (alternate routes take longer and include gravel roads). I think I got thru this morning about ten minutes before they closed the roads. I think I’ll luck out tonight since DH has two shows in Leesburg.

In other news, I finally broke down and bought my digital SLR. I ordered a Canon Rebel XTi. And I did something I try to never do, I bought it with my Check Visa (I have a rule to never use it online). But since I now get Visa Rewards on that card now… well I bent the rule for this purchase. As a result, I got a phone call yesterday from my bank about a Fraud Alert. I’m glad they noticed it was out of the ordinary for me.  Oh and I have to blame mostly Shalini and Suz a little bit because they have such great photos (they both have the Rebel XT).

And at work we have yet another launch happening.  Today it is a historic dual Ariane launch for us (two of our satellites are being launch on one Ariane rocket).  I was talking to the GEO thermal IPT (integrated product team) lead aka my boss and he invited me to sit with him at the thermal station in the MOC (control room) for the launch.  But then I found out that they are going to have food in the auditorium, so I think I’ll go there instead.

  1. Love and snuggle your Rebel, that camera is just a fabulous thing of beauty. And I love how you can just start off point and shoot if you have to, and then progress to more and more fabulousness.

I’ve been wearing the finish off of mine, that’s how much I handle it.

  2. It’s a wonderful camera. You must get those special hospital photos with this one. How I wish I had it then. My digital was only 3.1 megapixel. It was ok but now that I’m scrapping those pictures, they come out really tiny when put on a 12×12 canvas. I have to blow them up twice their size to get a decent LO.

There is a 8 week photography challenge starting today for DSLR newbies – but you might not need it since you are familiar with the manual one. Still, if you’re interesed, let me know.
