The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
May 14, 2009 on 9:55 am | In Henry | 2 CommentsI’ve gotten into a bad habit of hitting the Giant for a Nequick and donut before work. I’ve also starting using the Redbox there. Yesterday I picked up “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and watched it last night. While I liked it, the end of the movie where you watch him get younger and younger before he finally dies as an infant in Daisy’s arms had me bawling. I wanted to get Henry out of his crib and hug him (I settled for just putting my hand on him while he slept in his crib). Even this morning I wanted to run back to daycare so I could hug him (which is diffcult these days since he is a toddler on the move and doesn’t want to be held down). I read the short story recently on Stanza, but the movie was very different.
I had already determined after watching “The Bridge to Terabithia” that for the next couple of years I can’t watch any movie with kids dying. But Benjamin Button wasn’t really an infant dying, he had lived a long life and died of old age (I think) but it still affected me as if he was an infant. Oh and “The Bridge to Terabithia” we totally were wrong about that movie. We thought it would be similar to “Spiderwick” so it was quite a surpise when the little girl died. Also that weekend we had rented “Premonition”. It was such a depressing weekend (and I think I was pregnant at the time too).
