Henry’s 15 month Appointment

I forgot to mention that Henry had his 15 month appointment last week.  I thought the development questions were a bit strange.  I had asked Catherine if she remembered any of them from Noah’s 15 month appointment and all she could remember were that they were things he has been doing for a long time.  I wonder if he gets asks different questions since he is a preemie, I’ll ask her tonight at band.  I got questions like does he dress/undress himself and does he know his body parts.  About the only things he can put on/ off are his play hats.  And body parts?  I have a Sesame Street Beginnings book called Bubbles Bubbles that I picked up for $1 at Target and he seems to really like it.  So, I’ve been doing that one more often.  The first couple of pages are Bubbles bubbles on my nose, bubbles bubbles on my toes.  Bubbles, bubbles in my hair, bubbles bubbles everywhere.  I’m not stressed about him not knowing his body parts (and they didn’t seemed stressed either).  I’m actually thinking that maybe they pulled out the 18th month sheet accidentally.  At his 4 month appointment, they thought he was 6 months old because of the way he was sitting in my lap.  Maybe they saw a big boy running around the exam room and thought 18 months instead of 15 months.  Or maybe they have a bunch of different questions that cover babies that are advanced and babies that aren’t.

I’m also annoyed that the response to he is off the bottle was “do more cupwork”.  I didn’t even get a “good job” on that.

Oh his stats.  He only gained 3 ounces in the past three months and is up to 26 lbs, 5 oz (75th precentile) and he is 31 3/4″ tall (70th precentile).  They aren’t concerned about the low weight gain because he started walking and switched from breastmilk to whole milk so it is to be expected.  But if he had dropped two bands (they show up as color bands on the online growth chart I use) they would have been concerned.  I think also if he drops another band at his next appointment they might be concerned.  She just thinks that he is starting to settle into where he wants to be.

In knitting news.  I finished the toes on my 2-at-a-time socks but didn’t feel like searching for my Chibi and scissors.  I have band tonight and I was thinking that I’ll just finish them tomorrow night.  But who am I kidding.  I always stay up to watch the Biggest Loser before going to bed, so I’ll do it then.  And I’ve decided to name the socks Tangled Up in Putty since they are knit using the Tangled up in Blue pattern but in Knitpicks Felici color Putty.

  1. My best friend just got back from her daughter’s 18 month appointment, and that was the first time she had ever gotten the body parts question or the clothing question (thought I think it was “can she take her shoes off,” not general clothing. Just FYI.
