Friday already?

It seems like Sunday was just yesterday and it is almost Friday and the weekend already and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I thought people said that the last month of pregnancy goes by the slowest. At this rate, I’m going to turn around and he will be 3!

At work I’ve really stepped up the gotta get stuff done before I disappear. It could be as early as two weeks from today or before the New Year. When I told Scott that it could happen in two weeks, he just stood there. I don’t know if it was an OMG reaction or a Duh, I know reaction. But we are working on our Bradley (home study since I was a slacker and waited too long) exercises each night to help prepare me. The baby will decide how the labor goes, but it will be me who decides how I will deal with it. I’ve also been hearing not so great things about my hospital (43% c-section rate and staff who force medical interventions on even low-risk normal births). So, Scott and I have a plan and part of his job is to help me avoid being pressured into anything I/we don’t want. But the bottom line is a healthy baby not a the happy birth experience.

Yesterday Sue tried to email me the pictures she took at the baby shower. Of course Earthlink said I don’t think so. So, she burned me a CD with the pictures. They are mostly me opening presents. Today you get two items that were handmade for my little guy. First up is a little orange sweater and hat set that Cindy made for me. And Duh, if I would check her blog more often I would have seen it! Cindy and her husband also have a sailing blog that they update regularly. I should put both of those on my bloglines. In the picture, I’m trying the hat on the frog Sue gave me.

Next up is the blanket that the little guy’s Aunt Traci made for him. If you can’t tell, it has coordinating jungle animal prints. And the bubble fabric matches the nursery rug perfectly! It is soft and cuddly with flannel and a fleece backing. I’m planning on taking this with us to the hospital in case he gets cold on the drive home. Aunt Traci also made him a personalized Switch Plate like she sells on her website. But no picture of that until after he is born since it has his name on it. But it is blue with clouds and his name is painted green to match the nursery walls.

And finally some crafting news. My birthday present from Sue finally arrived! She ordered me (in August) a set of hand forged bronze double pointed needles in size 1 (my favorite size for socks) from Celtic Swan. Good think I’m almost finished a gift knit so I can use these soon!

One last topic and I swear I’ll finish this post (I’ve been super chatty this week). Our weekend plans. Tonight Scott is going to skip Kendo to rest his ribs (he thinks it is because he keeps getting whacked in the ribs and his err… chest protector thingy doesn’t reach far enough around to really cover it well). I’m trying to get him to go out to dinner tonight at Cheesecake Factory so I can use a gift card that I got for my birthday from Mirella and George (who I just heard just got deployed to Korea for two weeks). Tomorrow bright and early we head to the hospital for the our “Childbirth Education Weekend” which is two half days of classes. Then tomorrow night I talked Scott into going to a co-workers party. Sunday after class I run up to the church I grew up in that my mom still attends to help with the Alternative Gift Fair. We are manning the Habitat International table. We have door prizes and slide shows and all sorts of pamphlets. Then I’m finished all my busy weekends and can rest until the baby gets here.
