Introducing Lemon Drop
July 23, 2006 on 12:00 am | In Uncategorized | Comments Off on Introducing Lemon DropWhile stitching this “little” girl this week, all I could think about were lemon drops. So, that is what I named her. She is almost complete, I just need to give her a felted nose (I think I loaned my felting needle to a friend). But today was the birthday party for my mom (who requested a yellow hedgehog in May when the last two were delivered). I think she is going to like living in her new home. She is on top of the fridge right now in a yellow and green kitchen. But I warned mom that I thought Lemon Drop’s err… wide physique was because she was a little too fond of the sweets.
She was knit with two skeins of Brown Sheep Prairie Silk in Leveraged Lemon and one ball of Crystal Palace Splash in Lemonade. I wanted the Lamb’s Pride in worsted, but they didn’t have the right yellow, so Prairie Silk was suggested and I was told it would felt. It felted some, but not as much as I was hoping (thus the wide physique). The yarn shop near work has been under new management for a while now, and they are so much nicer and more helpful than before. I’ll have to stop by more often.
Which brings me to the next two hedgehogs. Mom told me today that she didn’t get into the August church newsletter (missed the deadline) to try to advertise our silent auction we were going to do all next month to raise money for the NZ Habitat for Humanity trip. She also doesn’t think that the hedgehogs will bring in more than $10 (which is my minimum to cover yarn cost). So, I was thinking about maybe doing the silent auction for the two hedgehogs I currently have over the internet. And if there is a lot of interest, I could make more. The one I have almost finished (just needs stuffing and a nose) is pink and the other one is going to similar to my Z but with a dark belly and light paws (exact opposite of what Z has and a bit more orange in the back fur. So, if anyone might be interested, please post. I’ll probably be posting about this on the BB’s I visit.
