Coming Down the Home Stretch

I finished up the yoke on Vivian and started the hood yesterday.  So, just before I started the hood, I had a photo shoot with my duct tape dummy (and I tried it on).  The sleeves are a little tight, but that was expected.  I’m hoping to get a little bit more ease there when I block it.  But so far I’m pretty happy with the results.

After this is done (I’m hoping before the month ends), I’m going to finish up the second of my handspun socks and then I’ll knit a pair of Micro Monkeys for Henry.  Then I’ll work on the 4th Quarter KAL over at LNW.  We are going to knit something with the same brand and weight of yarn.  There is a poll up to help decide which yarn to use.  Right now Knit Picks is edging out Cascade by 1 vote.  I already know what I’m going to do for the KAL if Knit Picks wins, I’m going to knit Accordion for Henry using the leftover Swish from his baby blanket.  If Cascade wins, I’ll buy the yarn at Wendy’s Knit Shop’s grand opening next weekend.  I’m so excited!  A LYS less than 20 minutes from my house!

That definitely won’t help with my current challenge and the one I’m contemplating for next year.  Right now I’m on the yarn wagon until the end of the year with the exception of the yarn needed for the 4th Quarter KAL (right now this just applies to commerically spun yarns, not spinning supplies).  I’ve been pretty good so far (just ignore those two small skeins of sock yarn of Bamboo & Ewe I picked up last month).  For next year I’m thinking of challenging myself to knit from my stash or handspun only.  There are a couple of exceptions already planned.  I know of lots of babies in the planning stages that could be more than planned before 2010 is finished.  So, my exception is the yarn for those (I’m only planning on knitting for two of them).

Oh, and you want a Henry picture, right?

  1. Oh my, he is looking so grown up! Sweater also looking good. Will you personally model the finished and blocked product for us?

  2. Vivian looks gorgeous and so comfy! I’ll check back from home to see Henry’s picture (no Flickr at work, darn).
